I enjoyed the easy access from a major hub of Kyoto plus once checked in to the hostel I could enter the area that contained the rooms at any hour without troubling the hotel staff but that isn't to say it was unsafe because the entrance is protected by a locked door that is opened with a password. So it is convenient in somany ways.
If you dislike the no frills approach of hostels then I imagine that this one would also disappoint you but if you know what to expect then I imagine most everyone would be extremely satisfied staying here

The owner and staff are very friendly and gave a lot of good advice. The sake bar (essentially the hostel's lobby) is top-notch and has televisions, wifi and some excellent food offerings. The location is right in the heart of Kyoto and provides easy access to just about anywhere. Free morning coffee and tea in the lobby. There's not much to the rooms, but they are clean and priced right.

Very nice hostel with a 2 person room. No individual bathroom, but the hostel is actually relatively small, so not too many people to share facilities with. The owner is a really nice woman who also runs the sake bar downstairs, where can have a go and explore some of the typical sake's from Kyoto and other places. Location is really excellent, and for this price it's an absolute steal! Probably because the Hostel isn't open that long yet, so better make use of this great deal while you still can! Oh, and as usual in Japan: free wifi access.

Was not sure what to expect when we booked this Hostel, it was the only place that had any vacancy in Kyoto for the dates we were looking at and I am so glad that we found it. Would definitely stay again and for longer,we were travelling with two children and were able to stay in a 4 bunk room which was great. The kids loved the hostel and ranked it it one of their favorite places during our trip to Japan. It was very clean, the cozy duvet was a big hit. There were lockers in the rooms should you need them and a cool sake bar downstairs that we didn't get to try but maybe next time. The location can't be beat, it is across the street from a subway station and there is easy bus access from Kyoto station. The main Gion shopping drag is around the corner and Pontocho Street is a two minute walk. The owners were very nice and allowed us to leave our luggage in the bar on the day that we checked out and come back later to pick it up. A great place to stay and a fantastic location.
